During the past 15 years, The Media Line (TML) is proud to have actively engaged with outstanding young journalism students. Encouraged by the enthusiastic mentoring of TML’s management and staff of veteran journalists, these talented students have been given opportunities to both learn and actively contribute to the agency’s work product, each according to his or her individual skill set. Each came away with a profound understanding of classical journalism and its importance in assuring that reporting is complete, contextual and truthful.
The Media Line is proud to have had a hand in molding tomorrow’s journalists, some of whom are working in prestigious agencies including Reuters, USA Today, Midland (Texas) Reporter Telegram, and Austin (Texas) American Statesman.
In Memory of Steven Sotloff
The Media Line is proud to count the late Steven Sotloff as one of its journalists. Tragically, it was Steven’s horrific murder at the hands of ISIS terrorists that made his name known the world over. His journalistic skills would certainly have become well-known had he lived.
Steven Sotloff possessed a remarkable ability to see tomorrow’s outcomes in today’s facts. Before ISIS became known as a global threat, Steven was calling attention to its nascent presence in Syria and its devastation in Iraq. He covered Libya and Egypt as though he had an insider’s knowledge of unfolding events.
The Media Line is honoring Steven Sotloff’s contribution to the world of journalism with a scholarship program for interns working in the Middle East. The region was Steven’s passion, the dedication to which ultimately placed him knowingly in harm’s way in order to inform the world.
The Media Line gratefully accepting contributions for The Steven Sotloff Internship Program.
