Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan railed against indictments handed down in Washington against those who attacked demonstrators protesting his visit to the American capital last May. Videos that went viral clearly depicted the aggressive attack launched by officials in Erdogan’s own security detail that resulted in nine injuries. Of the 19 indictments, 15 of them are issued against Turkish security officials. Except for two suspects who were not security officials, it is believed that all of the others are safely back at home in Turkey. But Erdogan, who was seen in the videos apparently approving the attack, has denounced what he called the “scandalous expression of how justice works in America.” He claims his minions were merely protecting him.
